May 15, 2008 05:55 am The Corinne (Morris) Johnson Scholarship Fund has been established in memory of Corinne Johnson of Andover. The Andover resident was the first female general manager at the General Electric aircraft engine plant in Lynn. The scholarship will benefit college-bound high school students who have lost a parent. "Education was paramount to Corinne," said Julie Gadziala, cofounder of the fund, in a release. "She would be very pleased to know that we have come up with a way to weave her strong feelings about the importance of education together with assisting youth who have lost a parent." The first grants will be awarded in May 2009. A committee including Julie Gadziala and Corinne's son, Jimmy Johnson, will be responsible for selection of the grant recipients. Donations to The Corinne (Morris) Johnson Scholarship Fund can me made through the Essex County Community Foundation at www.eccf.org.
