Art is the Park colors Park Sept. 19

The Andovers Artist Guild's Art in the Park event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Park at the corner of Chestnut and Bartlet streets.

Andover artists include Jim Primmer, an Andover resident and a photographer for over 30 years. He has been published in North Shore Magazine and won numerous awards including those from Art in the Park, Waterville Main Street and Arts Institute Group. He'll be at booth No. 48.

Gerald Smith, another resident of Andover, who is employed as an art director for a publisher in Melrose, is now pursuing his first endeavor as a fine artist. He enjoys graphite to reproduce texture and detail and water color for its spontaneity. He'll be at booth No. 60.

Young resident Zoe Yin has been showing her work in Art in the Park since age 6. She sold her art in both of the two last years and is now 8 years old. She will show her acrylics at booth No. 96.

The following is a list of some other participating artists, with descriptions provided by an organizer:

Carol Boileau: works in acrylic, mixed media, water colors. She will be showing her acrylic paintings and mixed media works. Booth No. 20

Artist Susan Bruce will be showing her oil paintings and pastels. Booth No. 40. Her Web site is www.susanbrucestudios.com

Artist Karla Cook loves portraiture, delighting in trying to capture the spirit of her subject, the play of light and shadow, and then trying to render it in oil or pastel. Most recently she has found herself focusing on her love of animals in her art. She has studied with several well known artists and most extensively with her mentor and friend, Copley Master, Mark Hayden. Her work could be seen at Bistro Casis, Post Office Ave., Andover, and on her Web site, www.reservoirfarmstudio.net. She will show her oil paintings and pastels at booth No. 9.

Artist Sheila Corbitt paints acrylics and does ceramic work. Booth No. 58.

Artist Daniel Fionte, a Lawrence resident will show his oils, pen and ink. He holds a BFA and MAT from Tufts University in affiliation with the SMFA. He grew up in Andover and works at the Essex Art Center. Booth No. 39.

Artist Tina S. Gagnon will be showing her colored pencils. Booth No. 42.

MaryGimon graduated from Cristobal Rojas Art School in Caracas, Venezuela. Studied privately with Venezuelan painter Galeandro, working portraits. Strong background in still life and landscape painting particularly in oil. Booth No. 68.

Artist Debra Grubbs began painting watercolors while studying with Cokey Staid in Andover. She studied with a variety of artists while living in California. Now she lives in New England where she paints Impressionist landscapes in oils. Booth No. 34.

Photographer Robert Hahn will show his photographs at Booth No. 31.

Artist Janet Hamlin will be showing her oil paintings and pastels of Andover scenes. Booth No. 18.

Artist Ying Hu has lived in the U.S. for over twenty years. Most of her Chinese water color paintings and calligraphy symbolize good luck, good life, success and good health in Chinese culture. Her paintings were exhibited solo show at the International Poetry Conference, Simmons College, 2008. One of her paintings was in the nationwide magazine, Poets and Writers, Sept. October, 2008 issue. 4pm. Booth No. 93.

Gary Edward Hudson is a self taught painter who lives in Lawrence and has gallery representation at Cortile Gallery 234 Commercial St. Provincetown. Also a Celtic traditional musician and maker of Bodhrans and Whistles. Booth No. 69.

Leonard Joiner is an artist doing graphite drawings. He likes graphite because he can work on it just about anywhere. Always keeping his eyes open for New England farm and country scenes. Not always focusing on the big picture but hunting for that close-up or unique angle. He has keen interest in form, texture and the seasonal light.

Booth No. 50

Mary D. Kelly a resident of Woburn has been painting over 20 years. She is a representational painter of landscapes, seascapes & still life. She has studied under many local and North Shore Artists. Booth No. 67.

Artist Adele Kohler from Windham N.H. has lived in New Zealand, Australia. She attended the North Shore School of Art where she developed her technique. She will be showing her oils on canvas. Booth No. 64.

Artist Jeffrey Kress resident of North Andover has been painting in trail journals while on hiking treks. He studied water color with artist Jane Coffin in Keene, NH and soft pastels with artist Sharon Morley at Essex Art Center. Favorite subjects: steam trains, rivers, mountainside and still life. . He will be showing his pastels and water colors. Booth No. 51.

Artist Danielle McCarty from Plaistow, N.H. will be showing her portraits, still lifes and landscapes in her display. She will be joined by daughter Holly who has just graduated from New Hampshire Institute of Art with a BFA. Booth No. 98.

Photographer Ed Pedi, a North Andover resident, specializes in family and children portraiture. He is a master photographer, photographic craftsman and PPA certified by Prof. Photographer of America. He has been in business since 1992. Booth No. 41.

Award winning artist Alix Porras, a resident of Windham, N.H. paints in oils luminous landscapes that are happy, optimistic paintings full of color and light. Her favorite subjects are landscapes from Tuscany and New England and from locations where her travels take her. Alix sells her works from her Windham studio, by appointment, from her Web site: www.alixart.com and from several galleries. She is a member of the Copley Society in Newbury St. Boston, and of the Andovers Artists Guild. Her paintings are owned by corporations and individuals in New England and around the world. Artist Dorothy Starkweather a Biddeford Maine resident, has been active in the Andovers Guild while an Andover resident. She has painted New England scenes in oil and pastels and water color and has now branched out into paper making and encaustics. She has participated in Biddeford's Art Walk for the last two years. Booth No. 19

Kristina Trott a graduate of Mass. College of Art, doing commissioned horse portraits for close to 30 years. Arabians are her favorite subjects. . She will show her pencil, photography and pastels. Booth No. 32.

Candy Witcher from Somerville received her BFA in Drawing at the University of New Hampshire. She paints in pastels and watercolors and teaches from her home studio as well as the Somerville Home and the Somerville Adult Evening School. Booth No. 62.
