Ready to rumble!
Local youths present 'West Side Story'

Usually, the west side story in Andover is all about the quiet, country charm offered in the woodsy end of town called West Andover.
That all changes the first weekend in August, as Andover will be rumbling with the real "West Side Story," featuring the Jets, the Sharks, Tony and Maria.

Park to face '60s Invasion, of a musical type

They don't have a VW bus. But Andover resident Bob Cleary and his band, '60s Invasion, will look to transport people back to the 1960s with their music.
The Department of Community Services invites the community to a free concert at the Park on Wednesday, July 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. to see "New England's premiere '60s band." The band performs selections from the early 1960s such as "New Orleans" by Gary U.S. Bonds and "Can't Help Falling In Love" by Elvis Presley, and then proceeds further into the decade with "Please, Please Me" by the Beatles and "Louie, Louie" by the Kingsmen. Other '60s selections include "Good Lovin'" by the Rascals, "Midnight Confession" by the Grass Roots, and "Hair," from the Broadway musical with the same name.

Flea market shopping can be hit or miss.
But for one shopper, a day at a New York flea market was a big hit.
CNN.com ran a story by Christina Chinnici recently about a bargain hunter who bought a $10 framed picture of a flower, only to find an original manuscript of "America, My Country 'Tis of Thee" stuck behind the picture.

Roots, rocks, up and down: Summer guides lead hikes of the scenic Bay Circuit Trail in Andover

Eighteen miles of the state's Bay Circuit Trail and mdash; referred to as an emerald necklace and mdash; cuts through town in a westerly direction from North Andover to Tewksbury. While hiking all 18 miles would take even experienced hikers several hours, local hiking enthusiasts have divided the Andover portion into four manageable hikes this summer.

The fireworks will be at Andover High School, 80 Shawsheen Road.
