Big-band music for masquerade ball

Oct. 28 event to be held at Old Town Hall

The Andover Townsman

---- — Andover adults can get in the seasonal spirit by dancing the night away at a masquerade ball on the Sunday before Halloween.

The newly formed Andover Senior Community Friends will sponsor the ball as the latest installment in the popular Crystal Ballroom dance series.

The masquerade will be at the Town House, also known as Andover’s Old Town Hall, 20 Main St., on Sunday, Oct. 28, from 6 to 10 p.m.

The Crystal Ballroom series is meant to evoke the feeling of a former Andover dance attraction that brought the likes of Duke Ellington to perform for residents decades ago.

This particular event will be a masquerade ball, to coincide with the Halloween season. Costumes are optional, but there will be many dancers adorned in masks, according to organizers.

Big band era music for listening and dancing will be provided by D.B.’s Orchestra, with dance instruction by Dance New England during the first hour.

Décor for the event will be created by Brenda Afshin. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be served and wine, beer and soft drinks will be for sale.

Free parking is available behind the building.

Advance tickets are $10 for singles and $18 for couples and are available from ASCF at the Andover Senior Center (978-623-8321) or the Andover Bookstore (978-475-0143). Limited tickets will be available at the door for $12 and $20.
