FREE LIVE MUSIC, the Backyard Music Series in Lowell, with Ripchord, 6 to 8 p.m., on the back lawn of the Tsongas Center along the Merrimack River, food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase at each show, every Thursday through Aug. 23.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 1, 7:00pm - midnight - BEACH BLANKET SURF PARTY with 9TH WAVE - Hot rod surf

Celebrate the legacy of the 1960s surf scene at the East Coast's coolest surf dance party at SurfSide5! No time machine is needed to get your go-go on in 60s tradition with the sandy beach-infused sounds of the Northeast's hippest live surf bands. These dance parties also feature a retro fix from the 16mm movie vault, go-go dancers and craft cocktails. Each week features a unique theme-from Lucile Ball to Gilligan's Island. Prizes are awarded for the best themed outfits, or just dress to impress in go-go boots, mini skirts, Nehru jackets and skinny ties!

Honky Cats Dueling Pianos show is a high-energy, interactive and all-request driven rock & roll event featuring Jon Abrahms from the Billy Joel-inspired Broadway play "Movin' Out" and pianist extraordinaire Bill Conner. No two shows are the same because no two audiences are the same. From Bon Jovi or Billy Joel to your favorite "guilty-pleasure," request a song and sing-a-long. Lots of fun, lots of music and lots of laughs!
