Digging deep for 'Gardening for the Spirit'

The Andover Townsman

---- — Photographer and gardening expert Cheryl Collins will present “Gardening for the Spirit: Connect Your Gardening to Your Soul” at the next meeting of the Andover Garden Club on Tuesday, March 4, at 10 a.m. at South Church, 41 Central St., Andover.

Collins will show club members and their guests how to look at different types of gardens and decide what defines them.

She’ll offer simple tricks to design and plant a garden to delight all five senses. The program will seek to inspire people to create a new space — or reinvent an older space — in a way that brings joy to the soul and peace to the spirit.

A freelance photographer for nearly 30 years, Collins served as state photographer for the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts for six years. Her work has been featured in The Vision of Beauty Calendar and National Gardener Magazine and on the state federation website.

Collins has presented to garden clubs and civic organizations throughout New England. A past president of the Garden Club of Mansfield, she has also served as South Shore district director for the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts.

The program opens with some social time and a brief business meeting, Admission is free for members of the Andover Garden Club; a $10 donation is requested from guests. Refreshments are included.
