Eighth annual Animal Rights Day on tap

Massachusetts School of Law presents its eighth annual Animal Rights Day on Saturday, April 19, at 9 a.m. at the 500 Federal St. campus in Andover.

Legal experts in the field of animal rights law will lead discussions on issues related to animal cruelty, estate planning and more. Presenters will include Vicki Croke, lead reporter for WBUR’s “The Animalist,” and Dr. Nick Trout, staff surgeon at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston. Veterinarian Dr. Hedley Marx of Norwood, who specializes in acupuncture and other new veterinary techniques, will also be featured.

Individuals who made significant contributions to animal rights in the past year will be honored with Humane-itarian awards. Activities will also include a police dog demonstration by the Essex County Sheriff’s Department, a visit from the Andover Fire Department with a working fire truck, a presentation on bats by expert Nate Fuller and a dog training presentation by Andover-based BlueDog. Youngsters will also enjoy an Egg Hunt with the Easter Bunny. A complimentary breakfast will kick things off at 8:30 a.m.
