Independence Day, Andover style

Tropical Storm Arthur may have doused some communities’ Fourth of July plans. But Andover managed to pull off its holiday festivities in between the raindrops and wind gusts.

The July 3 fireworks went off as planned from Andover High School. The next morning, the Andover Firefighters Relief Association was able to serve up its annual Independence Day pancake breakfast in The Park at Chestnut and Bartlet streets.

The Horribles Parade made the rounds through the downtown without interruption, too.

Judging by the pomp and patriotism, the celebration was befitting the nation’s birthday.
