Wednesday, July 4

After enjoying fireworks the night before, at dusk at Andover High School, residents can expect lots of family-friendly fun on the Fourth of July. A Horribles Parade runs through the downtown and other events take place in the Park, at corner of Chestnut and Bartlet streets. Kids can play mini-golf or take part in a bean bag toss. Face-painting will also be offered.

Here's the schedule:

8-11 a.m. - A pancake breakfast hosted by the Andover firefighters, who took over the expense of the event in 2010.

8-10 a.m. - Live jazz music. The band, Blair Bettencourt, is performing.

9 a.m. - Youth and other groups interested in marching in the Horribles parade will line up.

9:30 a.m. - The long-running Horribles Parade through downtown will begin. The parade route is Punchard Avenue to Main Street, to Park Street, to Whittier Street and back to the Park at the corner of Bartlet and Chestnut streets.

10:30 a.m. to noon - More music, by the Middlesex Concert Band, games for kids and other activities.
