A classic day for Krit

More than 1,500 support annual run/walk for AHS grad

The Andover Townsman

---- —

A spectacular late-spring morning brought out more than 1,500 supporters of all ages to last Sunday’s sixth annual Krit Classic, an annual run/walk in town in memory of Kristin “Krit” Kearins.

Kearins’ mother, Pam Sheehy, said the event staged at Andover High School drew 1,367 registered 5K runners and walkers and an additional 150 kids for the Fun Run.

Family and friends sponsor the annual event in Andover to remember Kearins, a popular 2000 Andover High School graduate and athlete who died from injuries suffered in a bicycle accident in Boston in 2008.

Andover High School graduating senior Jessie Livingston, a talented gymnast, was awarded this year’s $5,000 Krit Kearins Foundation scholarship presented to an outstanding student-athlete at the school. Livingston is the sixth recipient of the scholarship supported through the race.

In addition, proceeds from the Fun Run are now funding a scholarship for children with special needs to take therapeutic horseback-riding lessons at Ironstone Farm in Andover.
