A quartet of Andover youth are using drama to help stop bullying and remind people of the lessons of the past.
The Hall siblings, Katherine (Doherty Middle School eighth-grader ), Caroline (Doherty sixth-grader ) and Joseph (Bancroft Elementary fourth grader) performed in “Terezin: Children of the Holocaust” in New York City during the weekend of Oct. 19 to 21. Katherine also performed the weekend beginning Oct. 26.
Katherine has been touring with Terezin for four and a half years, Joseph for two and a half years and Caroline for 18 months.
Nathan Ladd, 13, who attends the Montessori School in Andover, worked as the production stage manager for the New York run of Terezin.
“The show tours schools, other organizations and theaters with the goal of remembering and honoring the 6 million people lost in the Holocaust, particularly the children, and to combat intolerance and bullying in a unique and memorable way,” according to their mother, Mary Hall.
The drama group has performed at many local schools including Phillips Academy, Governor’s, Waring, Beverly High, Amesbury High and Pentucket Middle School.
The Hall children and Ladd travelled overseas to perform at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2011, where the cast earned a five-star review and was asked to return. The cast has been invited to perform in Germany.
