Andover students in Lawrence Academy one-act plays

Three Andover students are participating in Lawrence Academy in Groton’s current production of student-directed one-act plays.

Senior Jillian Thero, a frequent performer on the school stage, is one of 10 students in the Honors Theatre Ensemble taking on the challenge of directing a play for this final production of the year.

Like some, she has also chosen to write the script for her play, “Steubenville,” which she calls “a dramatized retelling of the true events of a case” that happened last August.

Sophomore Gabriella DiVincenzo, who has participated in every theatrical production during her two years at Lawrence Academy, will play the role of Harper in “Ferris Wheel” by Mary Miller.

Senior Emma Keefe will make her debut on the stage as Paige in an adaptation of James Thurber’s story, “The Catbird Seat.”

Performances are Thursday through Saturday, May 16 through 18, at 7 p.m. at the Richardson-Mees Performing Arts Center at the school. Admission is free; the public is invited. Contact Theatre Director Joel Sugerman at for more.
