The Department of Community Services will hold auditions for Confetti Kids on Friday, Sept. 10, at 3:30 p.m. in the West Elementary School auditorium on Beacon Street in Andover. Membership is for children in the Merrimack Valley in grades 3 through 8.
Children should be accompanied by an adult and should be prepared to perform a simple monologue. This could be something as simple as a nursery rhyme, a dramatic interpretation, or even a child's poem. Children will also be asked to sing one verse of "America (My country 'tis of thee)." They will be accompanied by the piano.
Participants will be chosen for poise, dramatic abillity and voice quality.
This program develops theatrical skills with skits, pantomimes and improvisational exercises, develops a musical repertoire, and performs for community events. Confetti Kids will meet Thursdays from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. in the West Elementary School's music room beginning Sept. 16. There is a tuition fee and costume fee.
