Andover senior Jenn O'Connor will appear in Lawrence Academy's production of Moliere's Tartuffe this week, on Nov. 5, 6, and 7.
O'Connor has been rehearsing with Methuen ninth-grader Emily Perrault and North Andover senior Fenn Macon for "this hilarious satire of hypocrisy and moral posing that rings just as true today as it did when it was banned by King Louis XIV after its first performance in 1664," according to the school in Groton.
Here's the plot: Tartuffe, presenting himself as a zealous man of God, is invited into the home of a wealthy man to serve as the "director of conscience" for his family. The imposter instead plots to steal the man's fortune, marry his daughter, seduce his wife, and take over his estate. Both Jenn and Fenn have appeared frequently in Lawrence Acadey productions, including last fall's presentation of The Visit.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. in the Richardson-Mees Performing Arts Center on the Lawrence Academy campus in Groton. Admission is free. For directions and more information, visit the arts section at www.lacademy.edu.
