One minute, they were flying through the air. The next, they were swimming underwater in the dark as part of a show-stopping candlelit finale.
The ANA Synchro team didn’t fail to entertain and marvel audiences last weekend with a program of perfectly synchronized routines during its 38th annual “Dream Big, Work Hard” show at the Merrimack Valley YMCA in Andover.
The nationally ranked, 85-member team is the largest synchronized squad in the country and spends considerable time on the road competing and training, traveling as far as Los Angeles, Arizona and to the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, N.Y. Two of its swimmers are also U.S. national team members.
Its annual trio of performances — accented by custom-made swimsuits and boasting routines designed specifically for team by Olympic-level choreographers — have sold out the past few years.
