After months of rehearsing and performing, the Andover High School All Girls Show Choir Nothin’ But Treble is headed to the big dance of sing-offs — the Show Choir National Finals in Chicago.
The local ensemble will compete this weekend against 27 of America’s best high school choirs for the title of national champion and the prestigious Show Choir Cup.
Nothin’ But Treble earned its trip to the nationals after finishing among the top show choirs at FAME New York’s competition last month. National finalists were required to compete and place in the top three in an official qualifying round to receive an automatic bid to the Chicago stage.
Nothin’ But Treble was one of 11 groups selected to advance from more than 35 competitors.
The choir leaves Andover on Thursday, traveling overnight by bus to Chicago.
On Friday, the vocalists will have a day of preparation and rehearsals, complete with a critique from the judges’ panel, which will help the performers gauge what will be key factors in the competitive round on Saturday.
A number of Andover parents and students are expected to make the trip and will join the estimated 4,200 in the audience for the final showdown.
