The Andover Townsman
---- — Fifteen intrepid hikers braved the frigid cold and blowing winds this past Sunday to participate in the 45th annual Rafton Reservation Trek sponsored by AVIS (Andover Village Improvement Society).
The outing was organized and led by David Dargie, who was assisted by Vale Reservation warden Ken Doran.
In the past, the event has included cross-country skiing or snowshoeing, but this year, hiking was the chosen method to view the 226 acres of forest preserved in memory of former AVIS leader Harold Rafton.
Participants headed out into the property from High Plain Road, off Greenwood Road, and were rewarded with picturesque wintry scenes all along the way.
