Two Andover eateries vie for best dessert trophy

Sweet Indulgence event is Saturday, Feb. 2

Two Andover establishments that aim to please dessert lovers will be part of the annual Evening of Sweet Indulgence on Feb. 2.

Billy Costa, from Kiss 108FM and the TV Diner, will be coming to the Merrimack Valley again to promote the region’s restaurants, caterers and bakeries. This year there are vendors from nine local communities competing for the coveted “Best Dessert in the Merrimack Valley” Trophy. Those attending the event vote for their favorite sweet treat.

Representing Andover will be Andover’s newest bakery, Pink Tree Sweets, and the On the Bone restaurant from the Wyndham Hotel. Joining them, representing North Andover, will be Cakes by Design.

The event will take place at the University of Massachusetts Lowell Inn & Conference Center on Saturday, Feb. 2 from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. The cost for general admission is $35 per person in advance or $40 at the door. Reserved seats are $40 in advance. For tickets, email sweetindulgencesinfo@comcast.net, or call 978-494-0769.

The evert is sponsored by Congregation Beth Israel of the Merrimack Valley, which is located at 501 South Main St. in Andover.

The night will include a disc jockey, silent and live auction items and a cash bar. Organizers say the live auction will be headlined by a David Yurman bracelet from Andover’s Royal Jewelers, an autographed Tom Brady football, home wine tastings with appetizers donated by Shawsheen Village Liquors and Samuels at the Andover Inn, and a chance to be Diner for a Day on the TV Diner show with Billy Costa.
