Garden Club looks at 'Greening Our Campuses'

The Andover Garden Club will host a luncheon and a “Greening Our Campuses” program next Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 10 a.m. in Salvatore’s Restaurant, 354 Merrimack St. in Lawrence. The meeting begins with refreshments, then speaker Marc Fournier will discuss implementing sustainable operations to achieve the goals of the American College & University Presidents’ Climate Commitment. Lunch follows the presentation.

Fournier has 30 years’ experience in recycling and waste management and is a LEED accredited professional. A former environmental analyst with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, Fournier also served as director of public works in Hull, senior environmental specialist with Haley & Aldrich Inc., and executive director of WasteCap of Massachusetts. Founded in 1927, the Andover Garden Club is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that encourages the study and practice of horticulture, landscape design, and floral design; aids in the beautification of the town of Andover; and helps protect and conserve natural resources.

A member of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts Inc., and National Garden Clubs Inc., the club provides both financial and hands-on support to a variety of municipal, educational and environmental organizations throughout the region.
