Life is a 'Cabaret' for AHS choral students

(Continued)

Minogue will sing and perform selections on the Irish harp to highlight the beauty of the fall season and the rich Celtic heritage of the harp. Her songs will be in both Gaelic and English and she may even add a line or two of poetry.

Next month, Jumpin’ Juba, which mixes blues from Chicago, Memphis and New Orleans with rootsy rock and roll, jazz and Latin beats, visits Memorial Hall Library for a Sunday, Nov. 3, concert at 2:30 p.m.

Admission to the concerts are free. For more information, visit www.mhl.org or call 978-623-8401, ext. 31 or 32.

Simple favorites for Andona concert

Musician and comedian Jim Plunkett, a staple of Boston nightlife for decades, headlines the Andona Society’s fall fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. at Hillview Country Club in North Reading.

Plunkett, who calls himself the man of simple songs, has been performing in the New England area for decades and is known for getting audiences singing some of their favorite hits.

The event will include a silent auction for such items as signed sports memorabilia, weekend stays, gift cards, gift baskets and more, plus a raffle. This year’s event will also include table sponsors and a coupon book for discounts to businesses in the Andovers and North Reading.

For more than 50 years, the Andona Society has raised thousands of dollars to enhance educational, athletic and cultural enrichment programs offered to young people in Andover.

Tickets are $25; light fare will be served and a cash bar will be available. The event is sponsored by Lannan Mazda of Lowell. For tickets or more information, visit www.andona.com.
