Andover will build a replacement for the structurally problematic Bancroft Elementary School.
More than 63 percent of those appearing at the polls today, Tuesday, voted in favor of a plan that will create a 680-student $44 million building elsewhere on the current school site. Once the new school is complete, the current Bancroft will be torn down. The state is expected to reimburse the town approximately $17 million.
The town clerk's office reported that 3,163 of the town's registered voters turned out, although another snowstorm might have discouraged some from voting during the morning hours.
