— Andover trick-or-treat hours have been postponed until this Saturday, Nov. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m., according to an announcement made around noon on Halloween by the Board of Selectmen.
As of midday Oct. 31, the majority of Andover was still without power, and many areas seemed deserted. The postponement will allow more time for utility workers to restore power and for trees and wires to be removed from streets.
All Andover schools were closed today, Halloween, Oct. 31, because of the severe effects of the heavy snow from last Saturday's storm. Students were not planning to attend school tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 1, anyway, because of a scheduled in-service day for teachers. School buildings also now will be closed tomorrow, so all in-service activities, including parent conferences and teacher training activities are canceled, according to the superintendent's office.
