KOKOMO, Ind. — A 16-year-old boy will be charged as an adult after police say he raped a classmate during school last week.
Two students at Taylor High School in Kokomo, a city about 45 miles north of Indianapolis, were supposed to be taking a practice test for their End of Course Assessments in an office last Thursday when the alleged assault occurred, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by The Kokomo Tribune.
The teacher supervising the testing told police he left the office and returned to his classroom, and that about 12 to 15 minutes later, the boy came to that teacher’s classroom to say he had finished the test.
The victim said once the two students were alone in the office, the boy began kissing her and inappropriately touching her before forcibly having sex with her despite her telling him to stop. She told police she then quickly finished her practice test and left the room.
The boy was arrested and charged with three felonies: rape, sexual battery, and confinement.
The boy appeared in court Tuesday morning for an initial hearing. A jury trial has been scheduled for Aug. 25.
