Ellen K. Zappala is vice president/general manager of the Eagle-Tribune Publishing Company Weekly Division, overseeing the general operations of all weekly newspapers including the Andover Townsman, Carriage Towne News, Derry News, The Haverhill Gazette, Town Crossings, and Weekender.

Ms. Zappala is involved in the communities served by the weekly newspapers. She is a member of the board for the following organizations: Home Health VNA, Northern Essex Community College Foundation, United Way of Merrimack Valley, and Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Zappala is also an active member of the Rotary Club of Haverhill, Andover Business Center Association, and the Derry Chamber of Commerce. In addition, Ms. Zappala is active in the community of newspapers, having served on the board of the New England Press Association for many years, and will serve as president of that organization in 2005.

A graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, Ms. Zappala began her newspaper career in 1981. Prior to her work as general manager, she was Advertising Director for the following organizations: North Shore Weeklies, Worcester Magazine, Derry News, and New England Press Association.

Neil Fater wants the Andover Townsman to inform readers about the news and events that make Andover unique. He believes the paper must hold public officials accountable in a constructive way, and provide residents with a voice. He has won New England Press Association awards for both his reporting and design of infographics. Out of the office, the Andover native enjoys sandlot baseball, live music and sunny beaches.

Tim joins the Townsman staff as a photographer after years on the staff at our sister paper The Haverhill Gazette. Tim studied photography at New England School of Photography in Boston, were he studied Photojournalism and Portraiture. Tim has also won first place in the KINSA Kodak International Newspaper Snapshot Awards contest in 1994 through the Eagle-Tribune.Tim is also a member of the NPPA, the National Press Photographers Association. When not working Tim is outdoors either mountain biking, hiking or just being on the beach. " As a photographer, capturing a moment in time, for those who can't be there, is the best feeling you can have, it’s the best job one could ask for."

Rick Harrison, sports reporter

Rick Harrison has been reporting on Andover sports at the Townsman for 33 years. He has also worked at the Lowell Sun for 33 years, spending the first five as a political and police reporter and the last 28 as a sports reporter covering many major events including the World Series, Stanley Cup, NBA finals, NCAA basketball and hockey tournaments. He has coached youth baseball in Andover for 27 years and youth basketball for 24 years. He also drove a cab (in addition to writing) for seven years.
