Spelling Bee gets down to fun
The Andover Fund for Education hosts its 16th annual Andover Community Spelling Bee on Friday, April 11, at 7 p.m. at Doherty Middle School. The fun-filled, family event is aimed at supporting educational innovation in Andover schools while promoting local schools, businesses and groups.
Four-person teams of adults will don costumes to compete for the title of the best group of spellers. Supporters of the teams will play a role in the Spirit Parade just before the final round, with an award going to the most enthusiastic fans. Judges will also award a trophy for Most Creative Team Costume in addition to crowning the top spellers.
Admission to the bee itself is free. But all money raised through team fees and sponsorships support AFE’s mini-grants to Andover teachers who propose new and creative classroom projects designed to reinforce and supplement the core curriculum. For more, visit www.andoverfundforeducation.org.
