Teachers' request for special projects due to AFE Feb. 12

Andover Fund for Education encourages teachers to submit applications for its next round of financial awards. Applications are due Friday, Feb. 12, 2010.

AFE provides money "for exciting, student oriented classroom projects" that enrich Andover schools' curriculum, according to a release.

During the fall of this school year, AFE paid for the following special programs:

Wood Hill Middle

"Road to Afghanistan": A study of this important, fascinating country to raise student awareness.

"Infection: Role in American History": An exploration of the profound effect disease has had and continues to have on history.

West Middle School

"Document Camera": The camera allowed students to create and see work in new ways.

"Solar System Expansion": The project expanded a previously funded engineering project.

Andover High School

"Environmental Science": A exploration of the science around them that let students get directly involved.
