During the months of October and November, the Bamidele Dancers and Drummers performed at many of the elementary and middle schools in Andover. Their performances were part of the annual “Andover All-Town Performance” and sponsored through the support of the Andona Society and through the various school PTO groups.
The Bamidele Dancers & Drummers are art educators, composers, musicians, dancers and choreographers from Africa, the Americas, and the Caribbean, according to the PTO. They are dedicated to the preservation of African and African-related cultures through dance, music, and song. Its members have expertise in African, Caribbean, and Brazilian culture.
Bamidele led an interactive dance workshop that allowed students to experience the language, music and culture of African related dance.
PTO leaders said “the workshop was well received by both students and staff.”
