---- — Andover world language teachers Linda Kane of West Middle School, Norma Villarreal of Wood Hill Middle School and Leela Bakshi of Doherty Middle School participated in the 46th annual conference of the Massachusetts Foreign Language Association this fall in Sturbridge.
The conference attracted almost 900 attendees from across the state and offered more than 110 sessions and workshops for teachers of all languages on topics of class activities, cultural information, assessment, technology, articulation and programming. Helena Curtain, nationally renowned speaker and author, was the keynote speaker and inspired attendees with her address “Head, Hand and Heart: Supporting the Collective Voice of Language Teachers.”
The local trio was selected to present a workshop titled, “Olé! Music in the Spanish Classroom!”
“The opportunity allowed us to work collaboratively to share the exciting work connecting content, project-based learning and technology going on in our district,” they said in a release.
Also attending the conference from Andover Public Schools were Jorge Allen, director of world languages; Maria Hernandez and Patricia Gregory of Wood Hill Middle School; Lauren Hayes, Melissa Buganski and Kate McGonagle of West Middle School; and Lin Wu of Andover High School.
