The Andover Townsman
---- — About 400 people turned out Friday night to watch Evan Pantely begin his reign as the 2014 Mr. AHS.
Pantely beat out nine other contestants — all from the junior class — to secure the title and bragging rights for the year ahead.
The annual fundraiser netted close to $3,000 to support junior class activities, including the junior/senior prom.
Pantely may have earned the sash, but Tom Dufton was the clear Fan Favorite of the night. Andrew Matteucci was first runner-up and Cullen O’Dywer was second runner-up.
The contest, hosted by the Junior Board, included a talent portion, dream date featuring each contestant’s female sponsor and a question-and-answer segment. Talents included a magic show, dancing, stand-up comedy and more. Student Katie Rex, one of the contestant sponsors, also choreographed a group number for the contenders as well.
The 2013 Mr. AHS, Joe Benjamin, gave a featured performance before handing over the title to his successor.
The other contestants were Connor Dwyer, Dan Harvey, Cam Flowers, Larry Zhu, Alex Bensle and Micheal Weber. The show’s student hosts were Vishnu Chava, Farrien Khan and Zach Ciampa.
Katherine O’Kelly, who served as stage crew manager and was in charge of all props, led a team of people behind the scenes who, with the support of the tech crew, made sure the show went off without a hitch.
Russo’s Tux of Andover did its part, donating tuxes to guarantee all of the contestants looked their best for the show finale.
Teachers Michelle Chachus and Krista Lambroukos oversee the Junior Board.
