Two casts, four shows, one magic ride

West Middle School in tune to perform Aladdin

Andover West Middle School will break out the magic carpet.

Students will perform Disney’s Aladdin as their school musical for 2013. Following on the heels of last year’s Footloose, and 2011’s 13 the Musical, West Middle School drama is looking to sell out again and impress its audiencesn. Director Charles Gracy, also of ACT Andover, has taken the reigns of the West Middle Drama Club this year and musical Director Emily Lapointe will once again conduct the score.

Aladdin features a cast of over 70 young performers. In a departure from previous shows, because of the level of interest from so many talented students, this year’s Aladdin has two casts, to give a chance to twice as many young actors to play lead roles, according to those involved.

One cast, performing Friday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. and the Saturday matinee on Feb. 2 at 2 p.m., features Ryan Cadigan as Aladdin, Ariana Turner as Jasmine, Ryan Doyle as the Genie, Adam Weber as Jafar, TJ Jayasinghe as the Sultan, Molly Pine as Iago and Brady Hale as Razoul. Narrators are Madison Fugere, Charlotte Lowell, Annie McGovern, Kyra Morissette and Grace Nowak.

The other cast, performing Saturday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. features Peter Heckendorn as Aladdin, Catherine Cox as Jasmine, Max Currie as the Genie, Zach Rivard as Jafar, Steven Kennefick as the Sultan, Fallon Buonopane as Iago, and Kevin Hern as Razoul. Narrators for this cast are Gillian Cowe, Alyssa Grieco, Megan Hartnett, Eileen O’Farrell and Julianne Teichert.

Ensemble players in all shows are Emily Abbott, Grace Alwan, Sydney Bergan, Tessa Berry, Samantha Biederwolf, Cole Cameron, Anthony Capostagno, Iris Choo, Talia Colecchi, Kamillye Contreras, Moriah Crocker, Abby Daggett, Arianna Defilippis, Rebekah Edwards, Sofia Garcia, Paige Gellman, Isabelle Gillis, Abby Goldman, Mary Kate Goodwin, Emily Gould, Charlotte Gutterman, Maryna Hajdukiewicz, Kathleen Hartnett, Anna Higgins, Sarah Jo, Hannah Johnson, Janelle Kelleher, Toni Ann Kobeliski, Danielle Major, Aiden McGuiggiin, Katelyn McLaren, Evan Miller, Sonny Morse, Ayla Ohlenbusch, Angelina Pinero, Cara Richardson, Jessica Shay, Ritika Singh, Lucia Smithson, Olivia Stuart, Olivia Summers, Morgan Swain, Caroline Washburn, Kathryn Wickersham, Anna Zdunczyk and Anneliese Ziegenbein, according to a release.
