---- — Sana Nadkarni, a fifth-grader at High Plain Elementary School in Andover and aspiring artist, was awarded the 2013 Nicholas Green Distinguished Student Award by the Massachusetts Association for Gifted Education. The award is named for a 7-year-old boy killed in a shooting in Italy in 2000.

Nadkarni has received other recognitions and exposure, including an exhibit at the Statehouse and reception at Andover’s CITI Bank. She was recognized by the 2011 Massachusetts School Library Association Bookmark Contest, Junior Federal Duck Stamp Contest, a GO Writer’s Contest and the U.S. Arts Olympiad.

Senior Emma Keefe of Andover received The Thompson English Prize for outstanding scholarship in her English studies during Lawrence Academy in Groton’s Cum Laude Day awards assembly on May 1. She is the daughter of Julie and John Keefe.

The following students were named to the honor roll at Shore Country Day School in Beverly for the second trimester: Alex Claman, grade 8, high honors; and Jack Miller, grade 8, honors.

Juniors Cecilia Bole and Aileen Kim were inducted into the National Honor Society at Austin Preparatory School in Reading on April 8.

The following students were named to the Belmont High School honor roll for the third marking period: George Apostle, grade 11, high honors, son of Marizela Zeigler and John Apostle; and Peter O’Connell, grade 8, honors, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter O’Connell.

Andover residents Robert Lemons, a student at Wood Hill Middle School, and Andrew Selima, a student at St. Augustine Elementary School, have each received a St. Francis Xavier Merit Scholarship at St. John’s Prep in Danvers. They will begin their studies in September.

Myles Bagley of Andover received the Middle School Award of Merit at Belmont Hill School’s annual Prize Day Ceremony. Bagley just completed the eighth grade.
