Latin students from Doherty Middle School and Andover High School who scored top awards on the National Latin Exam were recently honored for their achievements.
The local students joined more than 154,000 peers at public and private schools across the U.S. and abroad in taking the exam in early March.
The exam assesses knowledge of language, mythology, history, culture and reading comprehension. Local educators say receiving an award on the exam is an achievement, regardless of whether the students are in middle or high school or at the collegiate level.
This year, Andover students received awards ranging from Cum Laude to Gold Medal/Summa Cum Laude certificates. The Doherty students were presented their awards during their Spring Open House on May 22. Recognition for the Andover High students was scheduled for the Senior Breakfast and the Underclassmen Awards ceremonies.
