Mosaics & More: Teen time at Memorial Hall Library

The Andover Townsman

---- — Memorial Hall Library has been swirling with teen activities all summer.

Last week, more than a dozen youths pieced together cut glass fragments to create colorful mosaic wall hangings.

It was one of several workshops for the town’s young people that have been popular over their summer break.

Next up, graphic artist Andy Fish leads a Learn to Draw Manga workshop on Monday, Aug. 19, from 3 to 6 p.m.

Students in grades 6 to 12 will get an overview on how to draw the Japanese cartoon and other cartoons. The library will provide the art supplies; registration is required.

Teen Movie Nights, meanwhile, continue on Tuesday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 through August. “Wreck-It Ralph” is on tap for next week, with “Hachi: A Dog’s Tale” in the featured spot on Aug. 27.

The town’s youths also have been earning volunteer hours this summer through the library’s Teen Boot Camp program.

As part of an initiative that encourages teens to make a difference in their community by contributing to the library, sixth- through 12th-graders have been pitching in with various projects, including decorating the teen room and helping with the summer reading program.

For more information on any of the teen programs, contact Clare at the library at 978-623-8401 or ya@mhl.org or visit www.mhl.org.
