Armed with plenty of night crawlers bought at the Quickie Mart on Railroad Street in Andover, the town’s director of community services hustled to Pomps Pond on Tuesday morning, Aug. 21, as several fishing rods awaited the bait.
About 15 kids ages 7 to 14 were taking part in the town’s annual fishing workshop. Angler Jim Legacy of Mass Wildlife taught the young fisherman how to bait and fish. Some parents helped with the baiting.
“This was our fourth annual fishing workshop and one participant caught a largemouth bass. Everyone caught a fish so it was a good event,” said Mary Montblau, Department of Community Services director.
Legacy returns next month for a state-sponsored fishing workshop at Harold Parker state forest on Saturday, Sept. 8.
