The Andover Townsman

---- — Medford slave house focus for Andover Chroniclers

Andover Chroniclers visited the Royall House and Slave Quarters in Medford to tape a segment for the February installment of “There’s Something about Andover.”

Built by a wealthy merchant in the 1700s, the beautifully crafted mansion once stood with a clear view of the Mystic River. A recent archaeological dig has revealed the lives of the more than 60 men, women and children held in bondage during the time of the Royall household.

Two other segments follow — one on Andover Chroniclers’ visit to Restore, a store for building materials that is run by Habitat for Humanity, and another on the town’s new lock box home security system.

“There’s Something About Andover” is produced by Andover Chroniclers, an all-volunteer group of seniors from the Center at Punchard. The local-access show airs at 9 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday on Comcast Channel 8 and Verizon Channel 47.

Andover Chroniclers welcomes new members; prior experience is not necessary. Anyone who might be interested in any aspect of video production from planning to taping can email with the subject line Skip Wilkins.
