Road-rage incident leads drivers to be summonsed
Two Lawrence residents are heading to court after an accident on Union Street Monday morning led to a road rage incident between two drivers.
A 51-year-old Lawrence is being charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and a 30-year-old Lawrence man for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, after their cars collided when one vehicle failed to yield to the other, according to Commander Charles Heseltine.
The accident was reported at 8:43 a.m.
What happened after the cars collided is subject to conflicting reports from both people, but at some point during the argument, the male driver threw a full bottle of Vitamin Water at the woman, Heseltine said.
While the woman was given a summons for her driving, the throwing of the beverage earned the man the assault summons, according to Heseltine.
Six Andover police officers, including a sergeant and three detectives, were called to the scene to assist.
