The Andover Townsman
---- — Filmmaker Deb Fowler will screen her locally made documentary, “Through Gay Eyes,” next Friday, March 28, at 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Andover, 6 Locke St.
The free screening coincides with the 20th anniversary of the church’s celebration of becoming a LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, questioning) “Welcoming Congregation.”
A special worship service marking the occasion is also planned for Sunday, March 30.
The documentary looks to give a voice to the embedded furtive lifestyle of gays, according to a release. It encompasses the personal stories of gay partners, parents and individuals that extend beyond “coming out” accounts to depict the realization of the silent vein that still exists in society.
Fowler will lead a discussion following the screening. She has been teaching English Language Learners at Lowell High School since 2005. In 2010, she collaborated with then-high school junior Connor Crosby on the making of “Through Gay Eyes.”
The public is invited; for comfort, bring a lawn chair or another portable seat. Popcorn will be provided.
