Karen Bomberger of Andover has been working with other board members to organize the fifth annual An Evening for Bridget in Boston on April 27. This annual event honors the memory of Bridget (Bomberger) Slotemaker, who lost her life to cancer in 2008.
Bridget Slotemaker was diagnosed with stage IV cancer in May 2008, while pregnant with her second child. Despite painful and exhausting treatment, she delivered her second child prematurely, but died only three months and five days after receiving her diagnosis.
The event will be held Saturday, April 27, at 6:30 p.m. at the Boston Harbor Hotel. Started by friends and co-chaired by Bridget’s husband, Steve Slotemaker, and her step-mother, Sara Bomberger, An Evening for Bridget celebrates the life of this Massachusetts native and Boston College graduate who died of cancer at age 35.
This event supports the Program for Young Women with Breast Cancer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and has raised more than $310,000 to support women who are young, strong, and bravely fighting cancer.
An Evening for Bridget will include a cocktail reception, silent and live auctions, dancing and a deejay. WCVB-TV reporter and breast-cancer survivor Kelley Tuthill will serve as the evening’s emcee. Tickets are $125 per person and can be purchased at evening4bridget.org.
