A 911 caller reported at 8 p.m. that a 22-year-old resident of a respite home on Lowell Street was in his room alone with a knife threatening to harm himself. Police arrived, but couldn’t find the man. Essex Regional 911 reported it had received a call from a man walking down Lowell Street with a knife, but that the man hung up. Police found the man in the woods near Canterbury Street where they disarmed him. He was transported to Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.

Friday, April 4

A caller reported at 4:33 p.m. that people are living in a condemned residence on 57 Elm St. and that they have nowhere to go. Police checked the residence, but didn’t find anyone living there. The residence has been condemned per the Health Department.

Saturday, April 5

Police checked an abandoned house ay 115 Corbett St. at 1:26 p.m. and will request that the Fire Department put an “X” on the property denoting that it is empty and that nobody is inside in case a fire breaks out. The house was clear, police said.

Sunday, April 6

A man who was sweating and screaming was reported in the hallway of the La Quinta Hotel on River Road at 1:04 a.m. Police said the man was taken to Lawrence General Hospital and that the mother of his children was called to take them.

Friday, April 4

A shoplifter was reported at 1:31 a.m. at CVS on Main Street when a woman reportedly left the store with flowers without paying for them. She got into an unidentified car and fled in an unknown direction.
