Fourteen Andover residents in the Treble Chorus of New England recently joined their fellow chorus members by touring Italy to complete the groups 37th season.
All told, 28 choristers toured the cities of Rome, Fermo, Assisi, Florence and Venice, singing their way across the country.
Highlights included participating in a Mass at St Peter’s Basilica, joining an Italian choir in the seacoast town of Fermo, performing at St. Francis of Assisi church, an impromptu music selection within the Pantheon and a service at St. Mark’s in Venice.
A tour of the Eternal City visiting sites of the Roman Forum ruins, the Coliseum, a swim in the Adriatic Sea, a gondola ride in Venice and a late night beach party with some new Italian friends were among the highlights, according to the group. They also enjoyed sampling some familiar and some not so familiar cuisine.
