HE proposed on the tail of a Black Hawk helicopter mid-air and his camoflauged-dressed bride-to-be said yes. Need this couple say anything else about their worthiness for a military-wedding giveaway?
Brandon Reynolds of Texas and Kelly Becraft of Utica, N.Y. are both serving with the U.S. Army and are currently stationed in Honduras. The couple was the top vote-getter in a military-wedding giveaway hosted by nine wedding-related businesses at Andover’s Bridal Center on Main Street.
A video about falling in love while serving in the military complete with a mid-air wedding proposal aboard an Army helicopter earned them the prize. The nationwide contest awarded $15,000 worth of wedding-related prizes from The Bridal Center’s business tenants to a military couple. Plus, the Fairways at Woburn Country Club in Woburn is giving a $2,000 discount on a wedding-reception package.
The winning couple was announced last Wednesday night, Jan. 9, after Townsman deadline, at All Star Entertainment at the Bridal Center and owner Mike Edwards said all the legwork was well worth it.
“They both come from military families and this was a way to give thanks,” Edwards said. “They really appreciated it. The bride’s dad drove here from Utica and was very gracious and thankful.”
The winning couple has already sent a memorable thank-you video. Atop an army tank at their base in Honduras, Army staffers hold a “thank you Andover Bridal Center” sign, said Edwards.
“Just amazing...they even played music on the video,” Edwards said.
The bridal shop, Cristina’s, also gets a thank you from atop a tank.
“We’re like a little community, a co-op, in this building and everyone came together for this. Everyone was so generous,” Cristina’s owner Steve Kalman said. “It was great to be a part of this.”
The couple will marry on Sept. 6 with a reception in Woburn while guests will stay at Hanscom Air Force Base, Edwards said.
