With a marketing and publishing background and first-hand knowledge of knowing how tough it can be to date past 40, a divorced Andover matchmaker brings lots of useful job experience to her new online dating site.
Deborah Sloan of Andover works with a team of interviewers to create an appealing first line for clients who use the website, It’s A Date.
“One out of six relationships starts online,” she said. “You put yourself out there and we’re here to help...I know how important that very first line is.”
That’s where the trouble starts for date seekers. Sloan said clients are slow to open up about themselves. Getting them to write an interesting online profile is tough.
“We help them write profiles with questions like, ‘What did you do last Saturday night?’ Writing is so hard for so many people,” Sloan said, “but everyone has a story to tell that reveals who they are.”
For $195, clients get a one-hour consultation by telephone or Skpe and the writing begins. Sloan said she and her team get the client to “stand out in the crowded online arena.”
“First impressions count,” she said, a line she also uses on her website.
There are many dating sites available online, but Sloan said that initial consultation with clients is what makes her site the best.
“We chat with each client and find out who they really are and what makes them special,” she said.
