Downtown nail salon "in the pink" will celebrate its 10 year anniversary this weekend with an event thrown out of its new Main Street home.
As extensive work awaits Olde Andover Village, the original home for in the pink, the business has jumped nearly across the street to 74B Main St. It is now located between Accents On Hair and CVS, the space formerly used by Flowers by Steve.
The salon's old home "will go through a positive transformation, but we were looking for a bigger space," said Katrina Batal, owner of in the pink. "Our other spot was 272 square feet, so when we got this, we were able to triple the space."
The salon plans to take advantage of the building's post and beam architecture, which Batal said fits well with what they have always had for furniture and displays.
"I love this space," said Batal. "Without having to redo anything, it looked great."
In its new home, in the pink will continue to offer the same acrylic-free nail work it has always provided, leaving the salon smelling fresh and comfortable with no evident chemical odor, she said.
"We have people who bring their kids here because there is no chemical smell," said Batal.
To celebrate, the business will host an open house on Sunday, April 1, the day of in the pink's 10-year anniversary. The open house will feature face painting, raffles, free mini manicure and more. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
