The Board of Selectmen approved a 10-percent sewer rate hike Monday night, the second such increase since May. When a North Andover waste incinerator was closed for repairs June 29, hauling the sludge to dump sites caused disposal costs to skyrocket, Town Manager Kenneth Mahony told the selectmen.
Kindergartners aren’t the only ones new to the Andover school system. There are also many new teachers joining the faculty, with 38 newcomers among the total teaching staff of 350. “The turnover is somewhat higher than last year,” Mary Lyman, school personnel director, said.
