---- — The Real School of Music LLC celebrated the grand opening of its second facility at 3 Dundee Park Drive in Andover last weekend.

The new state-of-the-art facility includes 13 private lesson studios, four ensemble session rooms as well as a recording studio and a 100-plus-person performance auditorium and offers students many opportunities to witness and participate in a variety of musical experiences.

In January 2012, The Real School of Music expanded operations by welcoming Bradford School of Music of North Andover to its family. It chose Andover as the site of its new facility to accommodate the loyal Bradford students and the new students in the Andover area and surrounding towns. Bradford School of Music will transition to The Real School of Music name when it relocates to the new facility.

The grand opening featured demonstrations and ongoing performances by students and ensembles, private and group lessons, student band rehearsals, clinics and special musical guest speakers and performance.

Weekend highlights included a songwriting clinic and fundraising concert by Robin Lane of Robin Lane & The Chartbusters, founder of the charitable organization Songbird Sings that helps women silenced by domestic violence to find their voice again through songwriting; a performance by The Cranks, which is currently on TV’s “America’s Next Great Family Band” and includes one of the Real School students; and an interactive conversation with Erika Van Pelt, who was a Top 10 finalist on “American Idol.”

The Real School of Music is a membership-based music education and performing arts community with facilities in Burlington and now Andover. In addition to year-round private and group instruction in contemporary, traditional and classical styles, Real School offers students of all ages the opportunity to join bands, write songs, collaborate, play live shows and record demos in a high-energy musical environment. As an added benefit, Real School students are welcome to utilize the facilities for rehearsals and performances. New students are eligible for a free trial lesson.

Real School is also an authorized Yamaha Music School, offering classical music instruction for children ages 3 to 8. Real Jams Academy’s one- and two week-long summer music programs offer students a variety of intensive musical experiences including songwriting and performance, digital recording and musical theater.
