Burbine named VP with Fred C. Church

William L. Burbine of Portland, Maine has joined the management staff of Fred C. Church, Inc. as vice president, personal lines manager.

A 2002 graduate of the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire, he has 11 years of insurance experience and is a licensed property and casualty insurance producer.

Burbine is overseeing Fred C. Church’s Andover office.

Currie rejoins firm as partner

David B. Currie of Andover has rejoined Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP as a partner in its Real Estate Group, where he will continue to represent real estate developers and real estate private equity funds in all aspects of acquisition, disposition, financing, leasing and development of real property.

Currie has served as general counsel/chief legal officer for three companies actively involved in commercial real estate matters, most recently as general counsel at The Davis Companies. He also has extensive experience counseling real estate private equity funds in the acquisition of office, retail, industrial and multi-family properties.

Prior to The Davis Companies, Currie was chief legal officer of Whittier Health Network and also senior vice president, general counsel and secretary for CareMatrix Corporation. He was a member of Choate’s Real Estate Group for five years prior to CareMatrix.

Currie received his law degree cum laude from Cornell Law School in New York in 1988 and his bachelor’s degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York in 1985.

Essex Education accepting students

Essex Education, founded by Andover natives Richard Snyder and Katherine Lamanna, has set up shop at 89 North Main St., Suite 203, Andover.

The business’ primary focus is to help prepare students for college by offering the only ACT prep program for the standardized test in the Merrimack Valley, a SAT prep program and an AP Course Prep program. Their objective is to provide students with an academic edge through higher test scores, better grades and greater confidence. They also offer academic support and intensive courses in math and English language arts for students in grades 5 through 12.
