People interested in learning more about installing solar panels on their roofs should check out this weekend’s open house at 5 Newman Hill Drive.
On Sunday, May 18, from 2 to 5 p.m., the public will be able to view a “solar installation in progress,” according to Anil Navkal, Andover’s designated “solar coach” under an initiative to expand the number of solar electric harvesters in town.
A representative of Astrum Solar, which is installing the panels, will be on-site to explain details of the project and answer any questions. Anyone is welcome to attend the free event.
The installation was made under the Solarize Andover program, which offers discounted rates to people in town who want solar panels to reduce their electricity bills.
According to Navkal, the program has reached the Tier 5 threshold, meaning that everyone enrolled now gets the lowest price available through the Solarize program, backed by the state. Currently, there are 25 residents enrolled with a combined capacity of 202 kWs of renewable clean energy.
The sign-up period ends June 30. Visit SolarizeAndover.com for additional details.
