Decorating with a cause: Tree lot helps youth-center effort

For the seventh year, Andover residents have a place in town they can purchase Christmas trees and other holiday items, with the money helping to support youth programs.

The annual “A Lot of Trees” fundraiser by Andover Youth Services kicked off this past Saturday, Nov. 24 and will continue until Dec. 22 at the Andover Community Skate Park located behind West Middle School off Shawsheen Road.

The lot features balsam, fraser and noble fir trees in a variety of sizes, from 4 to 20 feet. People can also purchase decorated and undecorated wreaths from 10 to 60 inches, decorated and undecorated kissing balls, garland, mantelpieces, door sprays, and other holiday items. Proceeds from the volunteer-run lot benefit the proposed youth center, which is scheduled for a groundbreaking this June 2013, if enough money is raised.
