Paul Adams, state representative of the 17th Essex District which includes most of Andover, has announced that he will run against Barry Finegold, state senator to Andover and other surrounding communities, in this year's election.
"I've grown increasingly concerned about the fiscal health of our commonwealth, the continued unemployment and part-time job crisis, and the culture of corruption on Beacon Hill," Adams said in his annoucement. "I'm running for state senate to help end this madness, increase transparency, and protect your interests.
Adams was elected in 2010.
The state's election will be held on Nov. 6 at the Andover High School field house and the Andover Senior Center at 30 Whittier Court.
