Children's activities highlight Animal Rights Day April 3
Annual event at Mass. School of low April 3
The fourth annual Animal Rights Day, complete with a full slate of children's activities, will be hosted by the Massachusetts School of Law in Andover on Saturday, April 3.
The events include demonstrations by agility dogs and police dogs from the Essex County Sheriff's Department, demonstrations of bird intelligence, and an Easter egg hunt for the kids. The Easter Bunny and Lucky the Law Dog will make special appearances throughout the day.
For adults, leading experts in the growing field of animal rights law will discuss current topics, and legal issues surrounding animals will be explored.
One of the event's highlights is the presentation of the Humane-itarian Award to an individual or individuals who are making a difference in the welfare and rights of animals, according to the school. Past recipients include WBZ radio host and former WBZ-TV reporter Dan Rea for his work with The Shadow Fund and Martha Parkhurst for her contributions with the law enforcement division of the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
The event is free and open to the public. It will be held at the Massachusetts School of Law campus located in Woodland Park at 500 Federal St., Andover. The continental breakfast starts at 8:30 a.m. and the festivities get underway at 8:50 a.m.
Families and children of all ages are invited and the day will conclude at about 4 p.m.
